Hawaiian Bones

My wife and I just returned from the trip of a lifetime to Hawaii. We were happy to witness a longtime friend marry the love of his life and, to top it off, we were lucky to catch our very first bonefish.

Bonefish are not on the short list of species that come to mind when thinking about Hawaii, yet the island of O'ahu offers some very productive and untapped flats teeming with big bones. If you ever are thinking of going, do yourself a favor and book guide Mike Hennessy of Hawaii On The Fly - the dude knows his stuff!

Hopefully you'll read about our first bonefish experience in an article this winter. For now, here are photos and a video to wet the appetite.

Here is a short video from our flats trip. Be sure to enlarge it to full screen and upgrade the quality to 1080p (HD).
