Ice Time

Friends and I logged some good ice time between the Holidays. Nothing real crazy to write home about, but we had fun and found fish on every trip. It was cool mixing it up for different target species like walleye, pike, trout, largemouth bass, and smelt.

Here is to a happy and healthy 2011!

  3. Hi! Just stumbled across your blog and I'm enjoying it. Here's a random question - I noticed an older style Coleman stove in one of the ice fishing pics. I have a similar model...do you have issues keeping the main burner at a low flame? Mine seems to be a torch regardless of the valve setting or tank pressure.

I was just blessed with my Coleman stove after years of nagging my buddy's uncle to grab me a nice one at the flea markets he goes to. I've seen and used his with him for a few years but just now have my own that I'm responsible for. This being the case, I haven't had this problem (yet) and can't exactly make a diagnosis. Sounds like something in the valve is shot. If you were to look at camp stores and flea markets I'm sure you could turn up parts, or an entire grill for parts and possibly some knowledge on what it is you've got to do to get your valve working right again. Sorry I don't have a better answer.
